a modern setting in america is arguably accurate to the books message, as like britain in the 1800s, america is the world power in the modern era, thus the point of the invaders destroying the biggest threats earth has to offer is translated perfectly. though, of all the adaptations in america, the 2005 spielberg one remains the only good one.

Most likely Humans bred new viruses during the time the aliens were gone, and they didn't expect it. We don't know what exactly killed them in our system, but perhaps its related to what we do today and how we live. We evolved a long way since then.

I played Oddworld when I was a kid and it heavily influenced me. I first started drawing the Scraps and paramites and invented own fictional levels for the game. Later on I studied Gamedesign and learned how to do 3D modeling. I worked many years in the games industry and learned how to use Unreal Engine. With all these skills combined I could finally create my own 'Oddworld' game throughout 3 years besides my main jobs. This shows a lot of promise! This is really well done! I just wish the narrator's voice for the OWI parts stayed consistent, the fluctuation in accents really distracted me

One big idea that came across my mind is that the civilization that buried the tripods isn’t the same one that came back and initiated the invasion - same species, but an entirely different society, utilizing the ancient technology of a long lost civilization after learning how to use it. Just as we have long lost, ancient societies that we don’t know that much about, I think it’s possible the present day aliens might not be anywhere near as advanced or knowledgeable as their predecessors. Because in my mind, the tools made to harvest our biomass as a fertilizer would require extensive knowledge of our own biosphere down to a microscopic level. I think there was some kind of civilizational collapse or slow atrophy/decay in which a great deal of knowledge and data was lost. The tripods were planted at the peak of their civilization while the present day invaders are ignorant and weak in comparison, like toddlers playing with a loaded gun. This isn’t too far off from Wells’ original depiction of the Martians whose long-held dependence on technology made them weaker. But for them to fail the way they did I think would’ve required a fall-of-Rome type of scenario that leaves the species in a relative dark age.

I always love when a boss/character sees their disadvantage in height, and uses another person (same size or bigger) to appear much taller than their opposition. It’s not common in video games these days-and the first time I saw the pair-I legit went “Ah shhhhhit-there’s two! And the big one won’t stop coming for me!” Very memorable moment in the game.

Not even just an Echo of death, It's like they've never existed to begin with, which gives me the idea theyre not just erasing the bodies, but their souls as well. That's a pretty terrifying thought actually.

The BBC adaptation is okay and all, but I hate how they totally got rid of the opportunity for a kick ass thunder child scene that so many other depictions have either failed to or adapted terribly

idk if i can call myself fan of odd world. ive always know of the name although never played it cuz the visuals were off putting to me but i saw Strangers wrath one time as a kid and immediately knew i had to get it . i remember seeing the Odd World title on it wonder for years if they were connected of if someone just used the title but i never cared to really look lol , like i said i was aware already of the oddworld series and just thought it wasn't my thing. so fast forward i learned that I'm a hardcore fan of the Oddworld spin off only being one of my favorite games and I've never played the other ones yet lol

I would love to see the whole story line complete this was a amazing game I grew up playing and to see it complete is something I BREATHE FOR!

Thats not a plot hole. They needed human blood, and maybe animal blood, so they needed a large population of humans on earth. If the Martians had come 5,000 years earlier, there'd only be a measely few million hoomans, and all spread out. The biggest megacity of 3000bc had like 30k people, a small town by later standards

Random thing but I know there's a belief, or was I guess, among the native folk in my country that whatever happens to the body after death affects the spirit. So if your body is cremated or cannibalised it'll prevent you from experiencing an afterlife, so it's kinda cool to see a belief like that given to the Mudokens.

That still doesn't make sense. Humans aren't the only primate nor are we the only species that contain haemoglobin. lf that was their motive, why disentegrate the vast majority of people? They had sheilds and virtually indestructable to all of mankinds strategies, weapons and devices. How were the buried tripods not discovered? Not one was dug up or found. Considering erosion, volcanics and plate tectonics, ground penetrating radar, mining, nuclear bomb tests would have surely yeilded one machine??? l like Steven Speilbergs version, especially the tripod designs, but having such a nonsensical plot hole is astoundingly short sighted and, ultimately, very stupid. The only possible reason is he wanted to avoid the trope that best fits the genre and, in so, failed to serve the story. l'm pretty sure that if HG Wells was alive he'd agree with me.

Toby drinking his brew from a straw is something I'd do. Soulstorm brew is VERY sticky and probably doesn't want it to drip onto his him because like me, sticky textures bug me to death until I can wash myself.
